24 pockets so the build up to Christmas starts on 1st December and the biggest pocket is saved for Xmas Eve.  You don't have to put just chocolates in the pockets.  Here's some ideas for other gifts:

• Activity vouchers - let's go visit santa, make cookies, visit Grandma, watch a film etc
• Stickers
• Coins
• Craft supplies - pens, pencils, erasers
• Collection of animal figures, cars etc - pop each one in a separate pocket to build a collection
• Xmas decorations
• Seeds
• Jewellery
• Small toys/balls

Not the easiest advent calendar to make as you'll need to finish and sew on each pocket separately but the finished effect is very Xmassy.  We made this one for Xmas 2021 and used a varigated metallic thread to sew on the pockets as there are so many bright colours in this panel.  Looks amazing and we'll use it for years to come.

FYI - when using metallic thread, it tends to snap easily.  Use a metallic thread needle in your sewing machine (has a smoother eye to stop it fraying) and only pull on the thread when the needle is in the upper most position and the foot has been lifted.  There was a bit of swearing before I figured this out :(
